We turned a University lecture into an accessible interpretive city-centre self-guided audio and leaflet trail.
Our proposal for a trail around Neoclassical Sheffield was chosen as one of the entries in the University of Sheffield’s Festival of the Mind in 2012.
We produced audio and leaflet versions of the trail along with a downloadable teacher’s pack. The trail takes visitors on a journey around the city centre to discover how Athens’ Parthenon and Italian Renaissance palaces inspired Sheffield’s architects. Bill took all the trail photography and audio editing.
The audio trail features the voices of Dr Maureen Carroll and Dr Jane Rempel, of the Department of Archaeology, and BBC Radio Sheffield’s Rony Robinson.
Listen to track one of the audio trail.
You can download or listen to the whole trail.
Started: March 2012. Completed: September 2012.
